To say we were blown away by the photos Virginia Beach’s Cody Hammer and Jack Mitchell brought back from their summer trip to Tahiti — where it was winter due the island’s position in the Southern Hemisphere — would be an understatement. Their first gallery, which ran during the doldrums of the East Coast summer, inspired immeasurable stoke as the boys caught some near-perfect days at one of surfing’s true gladiator pits: Teahupoo. Though it was on the smaller side of the spectrum (which speaks to the magnitude of the break), the wave offers up some of the most perfectly hollow left handers on the planet. As the first frigid winds of winter descend on the region, let’s return to this turquoise heaven if even for a daydream.
