What a special winter its been so far. California isn’t the only region benefiting from eastern Pacific’s El Nino phenomenon – the East Coast has received above-average air and water temperatures along with seems to be like a solid swell event on tap every week. You can bet the Sandbridge grom squad made the most of the superior conditions by logging long hours in the water over their holiday break from school! This session captured in this gallery by Angela Kirkland of her boys and their fellow young SB shredders comes to us from the pre-frontal swell that lit up the Mid-Atlantic on Dec. 29, 2015. This swell was third of four straight weeks of a similar weather pattern that produced fun surf for Sandbridge (and plenty of epic moments for the Outer Banks as seen in Mickey McCarthy’s latest gallery). It’s been special to witness the growth of this crop of young rippers – among them Noah Barnas, Coeltryn Kirkland, Addison Kirkland, Keaton Kirkland, Rhett Kirkland, Kai Barton, Ted Eberhart and more – over the past few years. It’s safe to say the state of Sandbridge surfing is as strong as ever and will be in good hands for years to come!
