They’re gonna love him for his ambition. The skills of young S&A team rider Julian Smith, 17,  are on a rapid ascent, as evidenced by these photos and video from a recent session on Hatteras Island, N.C. Like scores of Virginia Beach-based rippers before him, Julian has been utilizing strike missions to the OBX to get invaluable experience in the powerful, often-shifting and challenging surf each passing low pressure system brings to our south. With immense support from family, friends and the local surfing community — his sponsors include S&A, Catch Surf, Surf More XM and The Ding Shack — the sky’s the limit for Julian as he continues his onslaught on the East Coast. Already well-versed in barrels, rail turns, blow tails and airs, his game continues to become one of the strongest around.
