The youth movement in and around Sandbridge isn’t just reserved for the surf lineup. An equally promising crew of photographers and videographers have come on strong with skills ahead of their years. Just add swell and prolific photo heads like Billy Ficke and John Declan Mactavish pump out inspirational imagery. There has been no shortage of photogenic scenes for the boys to document this winter, as evidenced by these sets of photos collected by Ficke and Mactavish on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016. Those the new year has been on the chillier side, the water remains as warm as its been in years this late in the season. Some hardy surfers like Allen Froman (seen ripping in Mactavish’s gallery) even opted to paddle out in the 53-degree water without gloves. The late afternoon light in these photos captured the timeless beauty that unfolds each time a winter swell lights up Sandbridge.
