Words by John Streit. Photos by Elliot McCallister and Rob Scott. The past month featured the classic East Coast summertime weather pattern: very little wind, very tiny waves and a whole lot of heat and humidity. But a gift from the Atlantic was brewing far to the South and East as the Intertropical Convergence Zone sent a pulse of much-needed medium-period swell toward our wave-starved shores. Here in Virginia Beach, the swell maxed out at about waist- to stomach-high; but the boys knew something bigger and better awaited on Hatteras Island. Surf & Adventure Co.’s Forrest Roberts, Shaun Devine, John Streit and friends took advantage of offshore winds and solid swell on Sunday, July 15 and Monday, July 16. Both were Fundays for sure!
