With spring upon us, one of our most unique – and delicious – tour offerings returns for 2016: our signature Blue Petes Kayak Tour! Being located on our Back Bay waterway in the northern portion of the watershed certainly has its perks. Aside from being tucked in a scenic portion of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge, our location along eastern Sandbridge Road also offers a surprisingly accessible one-way paddling route to Blue Petes, which has become a favorite of locals and guests alike since it was revived by brother Nick and Ari Cleanthes several years ago. There’s no better way to work up a hunger for their coastal/southern cuisine and extensive drink menu than taking on the 2.5-mile paddle from our boat dock to the banks of the Blue Petes in Pungo. The track is actually slightly shorter than our standard in-and-out Back Bay eco kayak tour and offers a unique cross-section of the northwestern portion of the Back Bay watershed. As you emerge from the maritime forest off the back edge of our property into Sandbridge marsh, you cross North Bay into Muddy Creek, which is lined with majestic cypress tress and the remains of duck blinds from years past. Feel free to customize the tour by opting to standup paddleboard! With decor that celebrate’s southern Virginia Beach’s outdoor heritage and ample outdoor seating, it’s the perfect way to earn your evening meal, which is sold separately from the price of the tour! Since the tour is one-way, you park your vehicle (with a change of clothes if you wish – we recommend it) at Blue Pete’s 30 minutes before departure off our boat dock. We shuttle you and your group from Blue Petes through the Pungo countryside to Surf & Adventure, where we embark for this unique adventure. Blue Petes hours vary in the shoulder season and also caters to special events like weddings, so be sure to call us at (757) 721-6210 so we can confirm with the restaurant even if you choose to register online!
